Detroit (September 19): In these troubled times as we watch venerable financial titans disappear down the S-bend we would do well to remember that the automobile industry is also in the tank. It may well be that we have heard the last of the collateralized debt obligations (CDOs) and  Structured Investment Vehicles SIVs, and let’s face it, who’s going to miss them – no one I know, that’s for sure. But as for those other vehicles, the 4 wheeled kind, we’re still going to need to get from A to B, assuming the job at B is still there.
